Resolve USB-C Ports Not Working on Laptop

Issue: user may report that docking station is not working, or that nothing that is plugged into the USB-C ports on the computer is working.

Reason: after a firmware or software update, the computer may enter "protected mode", which disables the use of the USB-C ports.

Resolution:

Unplug everything from the computer (charger, dock, dongles, etc.).
Shut the computer down.
Wait 10 seconds, then turn the computer on.
Once the login screen appears, plug the docking station back into the USB-C port and verify it is now working.
