Importing Passwords into Chrome and Edge Browsers from Excel File
This knowledgebase article provides step-by-step instructions to import password data into Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers using CSV files.

Step 1: Export Excel Data as CSV
Open the Excel file containing your passwords.
Ensure the data is formatted correctly with the following columns:
name (optional): Name of the site or service.
username: Login username.
Select the format CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv) and save the file.
Step 2: Enable Password Import in Chrome
In Chrome, type chrome://flags in the address bar and press Enter.
Search for "Password import" in the search bar.
Enable the "Password import" flag.
Restart Chrome to apply the changes.
Access the Password Manager:
Go to chrome://settings/passwords.
Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the Password Manager.
Select Import and upload the saved CSV file.
Step 3: Enable Password Import in Edge
Access the Edge Password Manager:
Open Microsoft Edge and navigate to edge://settings/passwords.
If the Import option is unavailable:
Type edge://flags in the address bar and press Enter.
Search for "Import passwords" and enable the flag.
Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the Password Manager.
Select Import passwords and upload the saved CSV file.
Always backup existing passwords in Chrome or Edge before importing to avoid overwriting important data.
Handle the CSV file containing sensitive data carefully. Delete it immediately after importing to prevent unauthorized access.
